Library Internet and Computer Use Rules
These rules and the library's Internet Accesspolicy apply to all users of this library's computers or networks. If you have any questions, please contact the library staff for more Information
TIME LIMITS: for public Internet use are posted in each branch library andmust be promptly complied with.
USER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cooperate with and follow all library rules and instructions from the library staff.
- Comply with all laws, including copyright laws and licensing agreements.
- Pay for any fee-based service used, including prints made.
- Only one registered user per computer per session.
- Minors shall not compromise their personal security by disclosing personal information in any form of electronic communication, including e-mail, chat rooms, and personal message services.
- Respect for the Privacy or other users.
DOWNLOADING
- dOWNLOADING TO A WRITABLE cd/dvd OR PORTABLE STORAGE DEVICE IS PERMITTED.
UNACCEPTABLE USE
- any attempt to bypass computer security, gain unauthorized access, or compromise the integrity of the library's software, networks, or computer systems or any other network or computer system
- Degrading computer network or system perfomance in any manner, including the unauthorized use of excessive amounts of network or system resources.
- any attempt to modify or damage either the computer equipment or the installed software.
- Any attempt to alter software configurations in a malicious manner.
- Displaying or downloading material prohibited by law, including material that is by law obscene, or, for users or viewers under 18, harmful to minors.
- violating copyright laws or software licensing agreements.
- Using any library workstation for an illegal or criminal purpose or activity.
- Installing any software
- Creating a hostile environment for library staff or the public, including displaying, playing or printing materials with the effect of harassing, defaming, or threatening staff or the public.
- Using another person's registration to use a library computer.
VIOLATIONS:
may result in the loss of Internet access priviletes for up to two years. a person whose privileges have been revoked may participate in a due process review of the library's decision. the library will notify and cooperate with law enforcement officials concerning apparent unlawful activities.
